Father's Day at Crisostomo

For Father's Day, we decided to have lunch at Resorts World Manila since Karly will be coming from the airport.  Daddy is not a fan of international cuisine so we looked for a Filipino restaurant to celebrate his special day.  Crisostomo seemed like the best choice since it specializes in modern Filipino cuisine - perfect for mom and dad who love Filipino food and for us kids who are adventurous eaters.

After being seated, we were handed out MENUS.  Yes, that should be in caps because their menus are massive!  At first glance, these could pass for family photo albums!

Father and daughter busy at work.
Upon entering the restaurant, you will be greeted by a dirty ice cream cart displayed near the entrance.  Don't be fooled as this is actually used by the restaurant to store their ice cream.  They had two available flavors that day: Buko-Piña and Quezo-Macapuno.  Very Filipino!  And very delicious!  We couldn't wait for lunch to be over, we just had to try it right after placing our orders.  Obviously, having a sweet tooth (and low EQ) runs in the family.

Both flavors were really good and I love their unique taste.  Dad, Nee-chan and Karly preferred the Buko-Piña ice cream while Mom and I thought the Quezo-Macapuno ice cream tasted better and creamier.
Minding our own businesses while waiting for the food to be served.
It was fun leafing through their menu as the dishes were creatively named with Rizal references scattered all over the place.  We ordered Vicente (Pizza topped with kesong puti from Laguna, tomato, and basil), Cordero (Lamb short ribs cooked Adobo style), Biñan (Grilled tuna belly, per 100g), Sinang con Laing (Gabi leaves with coconut cream), Manok ng Diablo (Hot and spicy deep-fried whole chicken), and Tinapa and Salted Egg Rice.  For refreshments, we ordered fresh lemonade (mine), choco mani milkshake (Nee-chan and Karly) and fresh buko (mom and dad).
Clockwise from top left: Cordero, Manok ng Diablo, Sinang con Laing, Biñan
We were really starving by the time the food started arriving so we weren't able to take pictures of all the dishes.  We managed to finish everything except for a little bit of Cordero, Manok ng Diablo and Sinang con Laing.  It's hard to choose a favorite among the dishes as they all tasted really good but I must say the Tinapa and Salted Egg Rice stood out.  It reminded me of Balinsasayaw's Salted Fish Fried Rice* which I've been craving for almost two years now.  Crisostomo's version was able to satisfy that craving!  Their fresh lemonade also made my day.  It's so refreshing, it made me forget about my craving for North Park's honey lemonade!**
Daddy loves his ice cream!
We were so full by the time we finished eating.  We didn't even have any room left for dessert (well, aside from the ice cream we had for appetizer)!  However, Nee-chan and I couldn't resist the luscious-looking desserts that were displayed just across our table.  We ended up ordering cakes to go - Yema Chiffon Cake for me and Chocolate Cake (duh) for Nee-chan.  I think she's in a search for the best-tasting chocolate cake or something.  Believe me, if there's chocolate cake in the menu, she'll most likely order it for dessert.

Overall, we were satisfied with our hearty lunch.  We were too busy enjoying the food, we forgot to give Daddy his gift! Haha  Oh well, he still liked his new belt even though it came a little later than the celebratory lunch.

* I used to eat this everyday when we were in Palawan last 2010.  That's how much I love it!
** I have yet to find out which lemonade tastes better than North Park's Honey Lemonade. :)
